PV Design
our philosophy
We plan your system as if it were our system. We will be happy to explain all the decisions we make during the planning understandably. We prefer to have you understand the operation of the system and any limitations it may have.
A photovoltaic system is a very durable product. As a solar power producer, you are not tied to any energy suppliers and price increases are irrelevant to you. Panels can operate for more than 30 years. A system is as durable as its weakest component and the lifespan of other components in the setup determines the overall viability. In our environment, that is usually the backup batteries. Each chemistry has its advantages and disadvantages. We select only after in-depth discussions with you and we will explain to you the reasons for our selection and design.
It is important to us that you have adequate knowledge and a rational expectation when making your decisions. If the site or budget constraints do not permit the implementation of your exact desire, we will not hesitate to advise accordingly.
Every period of industrial development was hinged on the invention of labor-saving technologies. The primary source of power has been fossil fuels, with some estimates saying oil reserves will be depleted in another 60 years. According to the March 2020 International Renewable Energy Agency report, renewable energy capacity grew by 7.4%. Solar energy continued to lead capacity expansion with a 20% growth factor. However, In Nigeria, an estimated 80million people lack access to electricity. Renewable energy solutions remain a largely untapped area and large-scale solutions are presently inadequate. Basic uses of renewable energy are small backup systems, streetlights, and water pumps for livestock and human consumption.
Produce your electricity for the total or partial demand of your home, right from the first day of commissioning the installation! Due to rising electricity and energy costs and falling system prices, power generation from solar energy is becoming more and more attractive. The decentralized energy supply is where you need it – directly at the house.
Investing in solar energy is one of the most underrated investments. The price of gas, petrol e.t.c to run generators has become increasingly expensive and becomes unstable with every crisis in regions that produce them, whether natural or man-made. These increments in the cost of energy are transferred to our potential clients that use them. While energy bills keep piling up, the sun quietly produces 173,000 terawatts of solar energy each day (MIT, “shining brightly”, May 23,2021). Nigeria has an energy potential of 497Gw of solar energy. Used or unused the power sits there waiting to be harnessed.
With your solar system, you determine how much electricity should be generated and achieve more energy independence, reducing the impact of rising energy prices, rising prices of petrol and diesel, and epileptic power supply. We will assist you with our expertise in this field. With a PV setup, you will generate and use the electricity yourself. The surplus solar power can be stored for use in recurring outages. Having a durable power generator on the roof, you become less dependent on rising energy costs. Save energy costs with the power of the sun, a freely available resource. We will walk you through the process.
on-site inspection
Though you are also welcome to send us your roof data before the inspection, it is always better to have a first-hand professional assessment of the site. During an on-site appointment, we record the data from your roof and surrounding environment. Here, the optimal orientation for PV production is determined, by the angle of inclination of the roof, the condition of the roofing sheets and trusses, shading from external structures e.g. other tall buildings, trees, or antennas, cable routes to the feed point (meter box) and of course the exact size of the roof for the subsequent dimensioning of the system. This data provides the basis for a complete system that we have optimally coordinated with one another.
planning your system
After we have collected the data from your roof, we put together the photovoltaic system. For this purpose, the components of the system must be precisely matched to one another to achieve the best possible return. First, a yield analysis is required, the possible performance of the system to be installed is determined. The meteorological data for your location for the last 15 years is then summarized and the average solar radiation in kWh/m2 per year is determined. The dimensioning of the setup takes into cognizance present market availability and the compatibility to the optimal design.
The remaining components of the system are matched to achieve the highest power production within the constraints of mounting space and orientation. The inverter and backup storage unit are sized to match the load audits and time of use, as obtained from data during site inspections. PV mounting method is selected based on on-site surveys, either roof-mounted or ground pole-mounted systems. After we have calculated your system, you will receive a non-binding offer from us. This includes a compilation of the components (photovoltaic modules, inverters, batteries, rack technology).
Installation and testing
The superstructure for the photovoltaic modules consists of stainless steel and/or aluminum and is completely corrosion-free. On a gable roof, Aluminium/steel profiles are screwed onto roofing beams, spots of insertion are made waterproof with proper sealants. The modules are mounted on these rails with special clamps. The cables can be routed under the roof gable or individual sheets. After installing the inverter and batteries the connection to the distribution board is made. If electrical modifications and automation of the circuitry are desired, our electrician will install this with agreements from you. You can count on a construction time of approx. 2-3 days for a 5 kWp system after materials arrive on-site, it may vary if wiring amendments are required in your local distribution board or at your request. Thereafter, how you use power sensibly becomes an active responsibility.
commissioning and handing over
When we are done with the installations, we will cross-check and do an operational test before we hand over the system. It is at this point we sit down with you and go over the system specs, installation procedure changes, and system limitations. This is one of the most important aspects of the project. We want to have you understand everything about your new setup. When we are satisfied with your responses, we hand over the setup to you. Most times, these systems do not require any input from the user except the agreed operational use.
maintenance and monitoring
We also support you after your system has been set up so that you can get the greatest possible benefit from your solar system and your investment pays off in the long term. We are at your side for the first year after commissioning and check at regular intervals whether the system is running properly. To do this, we require feedback from you on your system performance other than at scheduled times if your system is offline. Certain system checks can be conducted by you that only require visual and physical inspection. The rest will have to be conducted by our staff onsite.
Since all components are designed for long service life, such a system runs practically maintenance-free. With a roof pitch of fewer than 10 degrees, during the harmattan season, you should check the modules for dirt from time to time, as the accumulation of dust will clip PV production by up to 50%. Routine washing of the panels is recommended depending on the severity of the haze in your area. We can however install panel cleaning systems on inaccessible sites, like tall roofs to implement the washing with minimal stress.
